    DBA

FYI All - DBA stands for "Doctor of Business Administration". Apologies if that is stating the obvious, acronyms can be confusing at the best of times.

    MBA

Hi marguerittac, The book I'm currently reading may provide an interesting launching point for an MBA final project. The book is called Tribal Leadership by Dave Logan, John King and Halee Fischer-Wright. The book is about organisational development and business leadership. The premise of the book is that: 1. people naturally form tribes 2. stable tribes have a maximum stable size 3. every business is made up of one or more tribes 4. tribes exist at different "stages" 5. the amount and quality of work that can be achieved in a business is directly proportional to the dominant stage of the tribe which makes up that business 6. there are certain steps that a leader can take to help his/her organisation to progress to a higher cultural stage Thoughts?

Thanks for resolving this question, humblebee!
  6. Good strategy involves: a simple plan the focus of resources Points to note: Good results do not mean good strategy, and it is possible to have a company with good strategy but poor results. Current results are a function of past efforts. Strategy determines future direction and future results. Deciding on a strategy requires first having an appreciation for what choices are available. Strategic decisions are not like a multiple choice exam as the range of possible actions that a company can take are not defined in advance.

  8. Originally posted here. STAND up and dance like nobody’s watching. We are watching though, everyone is, and that’s why being the initiator feels so scary. You are afraid of looking like a fool, we all are. So we wait and watch you dance. Genuine passion is contagious, and as you dance freely and passionately one person sees the genius in what you are doing and has the courage to join you. Simple dancing, nothing fancy. You dance because you love to dance and you embrace your friend in the dance. We continue to watch you dance, the two of you. It is still a novelty and still too early and much too risky to join you. You dance openly and eagerly and another person is infected by the brilliance of what you are doing and comes to join you. You dance wildly and keenly and as passionately as ever, the energy levels race higher, the tension grows, and the attraction of the dance becomes so compelling that people are wonderfully and inescapably drawn towards the dance. A few people begin to walk and others start to run. The movement has started.
