  1. Hello, I have 3 questions that I was hoping I could get some guidance if possible. [1] Does anyone know of any online courses that teach the consulting frameworks? [2] I started looking in my city (Sydney) to see which universities / training companies teach consulting frameworks. I used search terms such as "Strategy consulting frameworks" but the courses i keep getting are more on strategic leadership as opposed to the frameworks. Alternatively, very generic consulting courses that discuss communication, running workshops etc (which are definitely useful) but not about the frameworks. This makes me think I'm not using the right keyword search. Any suggestions would be more than welcome. [3] I already work as a consultant in the area of risk management in IT, prioritizing risks, resources etc - would this be seen as an advantage by companies like McKinsey, BCG etc? Thank you for your time in advance Cheers M
  2. Hi I have discussed what working for management consulting companies would be like and the response i get is mixed. I get feedback like: "It's a good place to start but they work you hard, for long hours and low pay for the first 5 years" OR "Its good if you don;t mind being a slave for a couple of years" OR "Even though you already have consulting experience you would need to start at the very bottom again if start with companies like BCP etc." I would like to get some feedback on what everyone thinks about the following questions: - What are the advantages of working for such companies? - What are the disadvantages of working for such companies? - If you already have around 4 years experience in consulting (in a specific industry and not necessarily management consulting) do you really need to start at the bottom? If so what is the pay? Thanks for your advice in advance Regards M

    Courses

Hi Tom, Thanks for the response. To answer your question, I finished my PhD 3.5 years ago in the Cyber Security field of Information Technology. Since then I have been working full time as a consultant in the same area. First 1.5 years I was in a very technical role (penetration testing, infrastructure testing etc.). I thought I would always be the "technical guy" , however the last 1.5 years I moved across into Governance and Risk Assessments, and limited security strategy work. I think this is more challenging (in my opinion anyway), and made me a significanltly better consultant. I am already thinking of doing the PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner Course as I have been doing both delievery and project management in he last 18 months. I have to say I am really suprised that there is no certification/courses specifically for management consulting frameworks. There seems to be enough interest. PS. Thanks again for the response to both you and Tone ! Cheers Mehdi

    Courses

Dear All, Warning. This is a newbie question. In Project Management (PM) there are 2 internationaly recognized courses (PRINCE2 and PMBOK). Realistically, employers looking for candidates that specialize in PM are seeking such certifications. There are also similar certifciations in IT inductry for different areas such as Security, Programming, Audit etc. SO I was wondering if: [1] There are internationally recognized courses/certifications that I could take that provide an Introduction to Management Consulting - specifically for the main frameworks? [2] Any specific courses/certifications that McKinsey , BCG etc. look for, or send their own employees to or in fact offer themselves? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks Mehdi
  5. HI Sal and Eric!! Many thanks for the references!
  6. Hello, I was wondering if anyone would be able to recommend a book and/or PhD dissertation that provides an introduction and insight into the main Management Consulting Frameworks that exist out there. Thanks in advance Mehdi
