  1. Consulting gifs, for the win: http://whatshouldwecallmgmtconsulting.tumblr.com/
  2. There is definitely no harm in following up with them after two weeks.
  3. I would ask about industry and competition first. If industry is growing or shrinking then this gives information about external environment which informs talk about customers/products/company. Just my opinion. What people think?
  4. I think New Zealander's are trying to get jobs in Australia. This will help ones who can't leave...
  5. I hear they give responsibility early, which is good for building experience. Word on the street is LEK consultants are friendly and collaborative. I read that opportunities for travel are limited so if travel is your goal then something to think about.
  6. In terms of intellectual challenge, IMHO Academia > Engineering > Entrepreneurship > Management Consulting > Law > Manual labour > Finance > Investment Banking
  7. Consulting is a tough industry to break into and competition is fierce. There are many other good option including work in industry. Rachel, are you American citizen? If not, your odds of MBB are lowered. Banking and consulting are the most coveted roles because MBA students are (1) ambitious, and (2) needing to pay back $100,000+ of debt.
  8. Great to put these all in the one place, but where are the other 4 Youtube clips?
  9. Thanks for your comments. Saga continues, I will let you know how it all goes.
  10. This Youtube clip from BCG on preparing simple slides is great. Question, who prepares slides for BCG and other top firm? I understand it is all outsourced to India, yes?
  11. Hi all, I am looking at MBB Consulting or Investment Banking. I studied at University of Wollongong with distinction average. I love the Gong and social life is great. But, do I have chance of breaking into MBB or IB? If not directly out of uni, is there any other route into consulting?
  12. M K, I was a management consultant in Sydney for a few years at a boutique firm. For many people (I would argue most), working in management consulting at a reputable firm during the early years of their career is a stepping stone job. It can provide the skills, connections, and branding needed to open new doors to new opportunities. The work itself is high paced and the hours can be long, which suits some people, especially the kind of high achievers who are attracted to work in management consulting. Of the dozen or so friends who started with me in consulting, all have subsequently moved on to other things.
